As the first 48 cities that joined the Urban Transitions Mission (UTM) continue to spearhead approaches, test solution and accelerate their journey towards decarbonization and resilience, the Urban Transitions Mission continues to welcome application from cities across the world to join the city cohort.
Cities are invited to apply online and express their interest to join the Mission’s cohort through a brief online application form.
Eligible cities must have at least 50,000 inhabitants, and be a signatory of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (or commit to becoming one within 3 months from the engagement with the Mission). They must also have a climate action plan covering the whole city and commit to engaging with their peers in the roll-out of the Mission.
The expressions of interest received will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The new cities engaging in the cohort are expected to commit to work with the Mission starting from late 2023/early 2024.
Cities engaged in the Mission will be able to connect, exchange and learn from each other how to strengthen their climate strategies. They will work together with the Mission and its Global Innovation Alliance of partners to test and validate these pathways towards net-zero, inspiring cities across world regions on their journey towards decarbonisation.
