The twelfth World Urban Forum (WUF12) is taking place in Cairo between 4 and 8 November 2024.
The Urban Transitions Mission Centre (UTMC) is supporting the Urban Transitions Mission in brokering solutions, facilitating global collaboration and increasing the number of UTM cities worldwide.
UTMC will be represented at the WUF12 Urban Expo, which will take place at the Egypt International Exhibition Center.
Additionally, on the 7th of November, we will organise the UTMC Regional Conference: Advancing Urban Transitions in Africa!
The rapid development of the urban population in African cities is the cause for many urban critical issues and challenges associated with uncontrolled urban expansion. Many African cities have started creating long-term strategic plans and visions. Discuss with us how successful urban transitions in African cities can look like, which challenges urban actors face and how finance and funding programs need to be adapted to support cities and their inhabitants.
Thus, the goal of the event is to:
- Advocate for a global movement of local actions towards net zero, people-centred and resilient urban transitions
- Share experiences and targeted solutions among cities in Africa and cities worldwide
- Open the global community platform to cities, stakeholders and urban actors in Africa
- Introduce support services and tools, such as the Finance&Funding Helpdesk, Knowledge Repository or Global Funding Watch
- Invite other cities from Africa and beyond to join UTM and the global urban transitions community
