Session organised by the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL)
Session Overview:
In this session, we will explore the concept of Co-Creation as one of the main building blocks of the Living Lab methodology and its benefits in the innovation process. Additionally, a toolkit developed by ENoLL will be presented and explained. This co-creation toolkit helps finding tools to engage relevant stakeholders in the innovation process and supports the development of sustainable solutions and services. Participants will deepen their understanding of the tool by participating in a hands-on exercise as part of the session.
Objective:
- Understanding Co-Creation: To provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the concept of Co-Creation and its importance in the Living Lab methodology.
- Introduction to ENoLL Toolkit: To introduce and explain the ENoLL co-creation toolkit, detailing its components and applications.
- Engagement and Participation: To engage relevant stakeholders in the innovation process, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in developing sustainable solutions.
- Hands-On Experience: To offer participants a practical, hands-on exercise using the ENoLL toolkit to reinforce learning and demonstrate its real-world applications.
Expected Outcomes:
- Enhanced Knowledge: Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the Co-Creation concept and its role in the LivingLab methodology.
- Toolkit Familiarity: Participants will become familiar with the ENoLL co-creation toolkit, understanding its functionalities and how to apply it effectively.
- Practical Application: Participants will acquire practical experience with the toolkit, enabling them to apply these techniques in their own projects to foster innovation and sustainability.

European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL)
Founded in 2006 under the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, ENoLL is globally active to support and certify Living Labs. The role of living labs in advancing has been formally recognized by the IPCC, the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change, in their 2022 Climate Change Report: Global adoption of living lab methods can drive co-created solutions to existing problems by integrating scientific and expert knowledge with local knowledge and common values. The report has also formally recognized ENoLL’s model of open and citizen-centric innovation for policy-making globally.
