Significant Collaboration to Tackle Housing Challenges with the Webinar Series “Punto de Inflexión” Housing 2.0: New Perspectives for Latin America and the Caribbean

With the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) set to focus on the theme “Housing the world,” the Urban Transitions Mission is placing housing at the center of the urban energy transition agenda.

To address the urgent need for safe, resilient, and sustainable communities, UTM has partnered with the Urban Housing Practitioners Hub (UHPH) with the strategic support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and IDB Invest in collaboration with the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy to launch “Housing 2.0: New Perspectives for Latin America and the Caribbean.”

As cities face demographic shifts and intensifying climate pressures, traditional housing models are no longer sufficient. This webinar series, titled “Punto de Inflexión” (Point of Inflection), brings together policymakers and urban practitioners to unpack emerging realities—from algorithmic design to alternative financing—identifying actionable pathways for the region.

The series serves as a critical knowledge exchange for the UTM cohort, aligning regional innovations to meet new social and economic demands with the global objectives of the New Urban Agenda.

The Series at a Glance:

  • Webinar 1: Demand Without Supply Focus: Addressing the mismatch between the dominant housing model and the reality of diverse, aging, and informal populations.
  • Webinar 2: Systems and Models Focus: How new technologies like 3D printing, modular construction, and regenerative materials can scale decent, sustainable housing.
  • Webinar 3: Rescheduled to April 15, 2026, 10:00 AMET – The Future is Already Here “How do we design, build, and live with algorithms?” A critical look at how AI and machine learning are reshaping the housing value chain, from design to governance, while addressing the risks of digital exclusion.
